Diplomat Nickolay Mladenov, overseeing the U.S.-brokered Gaza ceasefire, expressed concerns about ongoing violations that threaten the progress of postwar governance and reconstruction efforts in Gaza. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Mladenov emphasized the need for Hamas to relinquish institutional control to a Palestinian transitional committee, which has not yet been able to operate in Gaza. Despite an agreement for Hamas to disarm and the deployment of an international security force, no significant advancements have occurred. Israel continues military responses to ceasefire breaches, contributing to ongoing tensions. Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin emphasized the importance of a defined timeline and opposed the separation of Gaza from the West Bank. The situation remains precarious as unidentified Palestinian bodies were recently interred in Gaza, highlighting the ongoing humanitarian impact.
